We . . . let me correct it from the start VA as in 804, Richmond, Virginia, the CAPITAL CITY . . . we rock, we kick ass, we sell off, and all those things and things . . . we get skipped on with new trends and even new music, it’s hard for us to get ratings in any genre (dancehall and even hip hop) when we leave this area . . . but Bella, G-Side, your anniversary did good this weekend. Dancehall in NORTH CAROLINA? Probably shocks people just like hearing there is Dancehall in Virginia. Well it is, and SK! are the trendsetters. Raised and in JA and recently transplanted to NC, these rising artist are ready to take on the world of music with their own genre . . . international music. A cross between the latest dancehall trends, the crossover of pop, and the vocals of rnb.
Currently SK! are working on a video for their newest single “Google Girl” and recently opened for such artist like Sean Paul and Serani. Another installment to Dancehall in VA . . . here are 2 clips from the 1st annual West Indian Festival, held in Richmond, VA Aug 7th. HDP couldn’t be in 2 places at one time (The annual CaribFest was taking place in Norfolk as well) but we did score 2 excellent clips we’re proud of. 1st clip is shout outs from 804 Soundmen . . . YES WE DO HAVE THEM, this clip represents 4 of our local sounds, and the 2nd clip is of VA DHQ Shelly Sell Off freestyling. Enjoy!
